## What Ownkube is

Ownkube is a developer platform that runs on top of your own cloud account. You connect AWS with least-privilege access, push code via git, and Ownkube handles building containers, deploying to your VPC, wiring up CI/CD, and monitoring your apps. Four named agents (Cost, Incident, Scaling, Security) run alongside and ship concrete output: a right-sized workload, a plain-English crash explanation, a replica decision, an IAM-drift alert.

You keep full control of your infrastructure, data, and cloud-provider credits. If you disconnect Ownkube, your VPC, load balancers, and container services keep running. They are vanilla cloud resources, not proprietary primitives.

## The problem we solve

Every startup hits the same wall when shipping to production:

- Cloud is too complex. Setting up VPCs, IAM, networking, autoscaling, monitoring, and CI/CD eats months of engineering time.
- Managed PaaS gets expensive fast. The bill grows faster than your traffic, and there's no path to wholesale rates.
- A dedicated DevOps hire is out of reach for a 5- to 20-person team.
- AWS Activate and GCP for Startups credits sit stranded. They expire in 12 to 24 months, and managed PaaS bills do not redeem against them.

Ownkube collapses all of that into a single connect-your-cloud step, with a roster of named agents (Cost, Incident, Scaling, Security) covering the recurring work that usually requires a $200K DevOps hire.

## Why teams pick Ownkube

- **A team of named agents.** The Cost agent right-sizes workloads and auto-sleeps idle envs. The Incident agent translates crashes into plain English. The Scaling agent manages replicas and spot ahead of traffic. The Security agent flags IAM drift and exposed secrets.
- **Burn your AWS credits efficiently.** Cloud costs go straight to your AWS account, so AWS Activate and GCP for Startups credits redeem against every EC2 instance, S3 bucket, and byte of bandwidth Ownkube runs. No credits left to expire.
- **Free Starter tier on one AWS instance.** Indie projects, side projects, and small-team dev environments cost zero platform fees.
- **Zero lock-in.** Disconnect at any time and your infrastructure keeps running exactly as-is.
- **No platform team required.** Teams of 1 to 100 developers ship to production without hiring a dedicated DevOps or SRE function.

## Core capabilities

1. **Golden paths:** one-click apps, databases, and workers. No YAML to hand-write.
2. **Ephemeral preview environments:** full-stack environments per pull request, on a Cloudflare-backed preview domain with DDoS, bot, and scrape protection. Isolated database forks.
3. **Named-agent operations:** Cost, Incident, Scaling, and Security agents producing concrete output (savings, crash explanations, replica decisions, IAM-drift alerts).
4. **Cost controls:** auto-sleep schedules trim idle spend up to 60%; managed spot-instance usage saves up to 70%.
5. **Monitoring and logging:** built in, no separate observability vendor required.
6. **Jobs, cron, autoscaling:** standard building blocks, no glue code.

## Pricing

- **Starter:** one AWS instance, unlimited apps, preview environments, Cost and Incident agents. No credit card.
- **Production:** $5 / vCPU / month + $1 / GB RAM / month. Highly available across availability zones, managed Postgres, autoscaling, jobs, 30-day monitoring, 7-day logs.
- **Enterprise:** custom. Premium SLAs, RBAC, SAML SSO, on-prem installation.
- Cloud infrastructure (EC2, EKS control plane, storage, networking) is billed by your cloud provider at their published rates. Ownkube never marks it up.

## How it works

1. **Connect your cloud.** Grant a least-privilege AWS role from a browser; no sales call required.
2. **Push your code.** Ownkube detects your stack, builds, and deploys into your VPC.
3. **Ship.** Cost, Incident, and Scaling agents watch the stack. Alerts arrive with plain-English explanations and suggested fixes.

## How Ownkube compares

| Capability | Ownkube | Heroku | Render | Railway |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Runs in your cloud account | Yes | No | No | No |
| Named ops agents (Cost, Incident, Scaling, Security) | Built-in | No | No | No |
| Preview environments | Full-stack + DB fork | Review apps | Preview | PR deploy |
| Cost optimization | Auto-sleep + spot | Eco dynos | Manual | Manual |
| Burns AWS / GCP startup credits | Yes | No | No | No |
| Vendor lock-in | Low | High | Medium | Medium |

## Common questions

**Which clouds?** AWS today. GCP coming soon.

**Can I use AWS Activate credits?** Yes. Activate credits expire in 12 to 24 months, and Ownkube is built to help you burn them efficiently. Workloads run in your AWS account, so every EC2 instance, S3 bucket, and byte of bandwidth redeems against your credits at 1:1.

**What if I disconnect?** Your infrastructure keeps running. Ownkube uses standard VPCs, load balancers, and container services.

**Do I need a platform team?** No. Basic cloud and container literacy helps, but nobody needs infrastructure as their full-time job.
